Amprolium (INN, trade names Amprovine, Amprolium, Amprol, Anticoccid) is a coccidiostat used in poultry. The drug is a thiamine analogue and blocks the thiamine transporter of Eimeria species. By blocking thiamine uptake it prevents carbohydrate synthesis. Despite only moderate efficacy it is well favoured due to few resistance issues and is commonly used in conjunction with sulfonamides prophylactically in chickens and cattle as a coccidiostat.
Amprolium Hydrochloride, known as Amprolium hydrochloride, odorless acidic white powder at normal temperature and pressure, is an anticoccidial drug used in poultry, a thiamine type, to inhibit the thiamine transport of coccidia by inhibiting thiamine absorption and carbohydrate synthesis, mainly used for the control of coccidia in chickens. It is effective against Eimeria chicken, Eimeria tender and pile, lamb and calf, but it is prohibited for laying hens, and can also be used in mink, cattle and sheep. 

Amprolium hydrochloride had the strongest effect on chicken tender and compost Eimeria, but had little effect on toxic, Brucei, giant and mild Eimeria. Usually, the treatment concentration does not inhibit oocyst production completely. Therefore, at home and abroad, it is mostly used with ethoxamide phenylmethyl ester, sulfaquinoxaline and so on to enhance the curative effect. The inhibitory effect of Amprolium on the immunity of coccidia was not obvious. Drinking water concentration of 120mg/L can effectively prevent and treat coccidiosis of Turkey. Bovine and sheep Amprolium against Eimeria calves; Eimeria lamb also has a good preventive effect. For lamb coccidia, the daily dose of 55mg/kg can be used for 14 to 19 days. For coccidiosis of calves, the preventive dose is 5mg/kg daily for 2l days, and the therapeutic dose is 10mg/kg daily for 5 days.
