Uses:
Streptomycin is a Water-soluble antibiotic drug that is principally used for the treatment of tuberculosis in conjunction with other drugs like isonicotinic acid hydrazide (isoniazid). Aminoglycoside is any of a group of antibiotics derived from various species of Streptomyces or Micromonosporaceae, while some of which are produced synthetically.
Function&Application
An antibiotic produced by the soil actinomycete Streptomyces griseus. It acts by inhibiting the initiation and elongation processes during protein synthesis.
For tularemia, plague, brucellosis and glanders serious treatment (often combined with tetracycline or chloramphenicol). Also used second-line treatment of TB and multi-combination with other anti-TB drugs.
