Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is a nitrogen-mustard derivative which is hydrolyzed by excessive phosphatase or phosphatase in liver or tumor. It has a broad anti-tumor spectrum and is the first so-called "latent" broad-spectrum anti-tumor drug that is effective against both leukemia and solid tumors.
Cyclophosphamide has no activity in vitro and plays an important role mainly through the hydrolysis of liver P450 enzyme to aldophosphamide, which is then transferred to tissues to form phosphoramide nitrogen mustard.Cyclophosphamide can be deactivated by dehydrogenase conversion to carboxyphosphamide or excreted as acrolein, resulting in urinary tract toxicity. It is a periodic nonspecific drug with the same mechanism of action as nitrogen mustard.
