Oxyclozanide is a salicylanilide anthelmintic that acts primarily by uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation in flukes. Oxyclozanide is an oxidative phosphorylation uncoupling agent that reduces the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in parasites, leading to the eventual death of parasites due to energy metabolism disorders. Penclosamide not only has good deworming effect on Fasciola hepatica of cattle and sheep, but also has activity on tapeworms and nematodes. It is a broad-spectrum, low-toxicity and low-residue chemically synthesized drug.
