Rosuvastatin, sold under the trade name Keding, is a statin drug used in combination with exercise, diet control, and weight loss to treat hypercholesterolemia and other related symptoms, and to prevent cardiovascular disease.
The main site of action of rosuvastatin is the liver, the target organ for lowering cholesterol. Rosuvastatin increases the number of hepatic LDL cell surface receptors, promotes LDL absorption and catabolism, and inhibits hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles.
