Metacycline is also known as "Methylene Oxytetracycline", and its chemical name is 6-methylene-4-(dimethylamino)-3,5,10,12.12α-pentahydroxy-1,11-di Oxo-1,4,4α,5,5α,6,11,12α-octahydro-tetrabenzamide, density is 1.66g/cm3, boiling point is 695.1ºC at 760mmHg, and its medicine is a tetracycline antibiotic . Metacycline can bind to tRNA to achieve antibacterial effects, but long-term use can cause double infection and liver damage.

Mainly used for rickettsial disease, mycoplasma pneumonia, lymphogranuloma, chancre, plague, cholera, brucellosis (in combination with streptomycin), etc. It is also effective against systemic or local infections caused by sensitive strains such as Escherichia coli, Aerobacter, Shigella, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella, etc. In addition, for infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomycetes, and Fusobacterium, when the patient is not resistant to penicillin, consider using metacycline (or other tetracyclines). Metacycline may also be considered for infections caused by sensitive strains of Streptococcus. As for Staphylococcus aureus, most strains are resistant to this class of drugs. In addition, metacycline can still be used in the adjuvant treatment of amebiasis.
