Colistin sulfate is a polypeptide antibiotic which penetrates into and disrupts the bacterial cell membrane. It has strong anti-bacterial function against gram-negative, such as E.coli, Salmonella, dysentery bacillus and vibrio, it also has strong bactericidal action against pseudomonas aeruginosa and vibrio. This product is used to treat the gastrointestinal tract infections caused by gram-negative bacteria. It can be added to feed additives as the growth promotor for poultry and pig.
1. Colistin sulphate is the basic peptide antibiotics, mainly for the prevention and treatment of susceptible infections and promote animal growth.
2. Colistin sulphate can be combined with the cell membrane lipoprotein phosphate free, making the cell membrane surface tension decreases, increased permeability, resulting in the cytoplasm outflow of cell death.
3. Colistin sulphate has a strong inhibitory effect against gram-negative bacteria (particularly E. coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus and Haemophilus, etc.),has no effect on Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and except hemolytic streptococcus outside) and fungi.
4. Colistin sulfate oral is difficult to absorb, less toxic, easy to cause drug residues, easy to produce drug resistance.

What is Colistin sulfate ?
Fosfomycin Calcium has broad antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens,with very useful activity against E. faecails, E. coil, and various Gram-negative like Cirtobacter and Proteus.
Given activity in a low pH milieu, and predominant excretion in activity from into the urine, fosfomycin was found to use for the prophylaxis and treatment of urinary tract infectious caused by these uropathogens.
