Name : Rapamycin
Shape : White crystalline powder
Rapamycin (RAPA) is a new macrolide immunosuppressant. It is a white solid crystal with a melting point of 183-185ºC. RAPA was initially used as a low-toxicity antifungal drug, and was found to have immunosuppressive effects in 1977. In 1989, RAPA was tried as a new drug for the treatment of organ transplant rejection. Judging from the effects of animal experiments and clinical applications, RAPA is a new immunosuppressive drug with good efficacy, low toxicity and no renal toxicity. It is now often used as a drug to maintain the immune capacity of transplanted organs (especially kidney transplantation) to slow the immune rejection after organ transplantation surgery, and can also be used to treat Alzheimer's disease (Alzheimer's disease).
