It is a β-lactamase inhibitor. It has only weak antibacterial activity, but it can inhibit β-lactamase produced by Staphylococcus and most Gram-negative bacteria. By binding firmly to β-lactamase, the irreversible conjugate is formed, inactivating the enzyme. Therefore, when combined with β-lactam antibiotics, it can protect the co-used β-lactam antibiotics from the damage of β-lactam enzyme, enhance the antibacterial activity of the antibiotics, expand the antibacterial spectrum, and overcome the resistance of pathogenic microorganisms.
Clavulanic acid is a broad-spectrum inhibitor that can inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus) β- Lactamase and Gram negative bacteria producing type I, II, IV and V β- Lactamase has a strong inhibitory effect, but the inhibitory effect on type I cephalosporin enzyme is very weak. | CAS NO.58001-44-8 English name Clavulanic acid English alias (2R, 3Z, 5R) - 3 - (2-Hydroxyethylene) - 7-oxo-4-oxa-1-azabicyclo [3.2.0] heptane-2-carboxylic acid EINECS 261-069-2 Molecular formula C8H9NO5 Molecular weight 199.16 |
