Production Introduction:
Benzoic acid is an important acid food preservative. Under acidic conditions, it can inhibit mold, yeast and bacteria, but it has weak effect on acid-producing bacteria. The optimum pH value for bacteriostasis is 2.5 ~ 4.0, generally lower than pH 4.5 ~ 5.0.
Since benzoic acid is slightly soluble in water, a small amount of ethanol can be used to dissolve it.
Application:
Benzoic acid is mainly used in the production of sodium benzoate food preservatives, dye intermediates, pesticides, plasticizer, mordant, medicine, spices, but also can be used as alkyd resin and polyamide resin modifier, used in the production of terephthalic acid as raw material of polyester and used as steel equipment rust inhibitor.
