Poloxamer, also known as Pluronic, is a new type of polymer nonionic surfactant with the molecular formula HO · (C2H4O) m · (C3H6O) n · H. It is a block copolymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene ether.
1. As an emulsifier and stabilizer: Poloxamer188 (Pluronic F68) is one of the few synthetic emulsifiers used in intravenous emulsions as an oil in water emulsifier.
