Shikimic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H10O5. It is a white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether, and almost insoluble in chloroform and benzene.
Shikimic acid inhibits platelet aggregation, arteriovenous thrombosis and cerebral thrombosis by affecting arachidonic acid metabolism, and has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It can also be used as an intermediate of antiviral and anti-cancer drugs.
