Bimatprost is considered to be the most effective topical anti-glaucoma drug for lowering IOP at present. It is effective for normal subjects, POAG and OHT patients, and is mainly used for POAG or OHT patients who cannot tolerate other IOP lowering drugs or fail to use other IOP lowering drugs.
Bimatprost reduces IOP by increasing aqueous outflow through trabecular network access and uveal scleral channels, and by reducing surface scleral venous pressure.Brukaker et al.
