Tropicamide, white crystalline powder; odorless. Easily soluble in ethanol or cm, slightly soluble in water; easily soluble in dilute hydr acid or dilute sulfuric acid. The molecular formula is C17H20N2O2, the molecular weight is 284.35300, the density is 1.161g/cm, the melting point is 98 °C, the boiling point is 492.8ºC at 760mmHg, the flash point is 251.8ºC, and the refractive index is 1.586.

Function:

Tropicamide is an anticholinergic drug that can block the excitatory effect of iris sphincter and ciliary muscle caused by acetylcholine. Clinically, it is mainly used to treat mydriasis and accommodative paralysis.
