Product Description Piroctone olamine (OCTO) is a white or light yellow crystalline powder, and its main properties related to cosmetics are as follows. 1)Solubility OCTO is soluble in surfactant system, which is a significant advantage of its superiority over similar anti-dandruff products such as ZPT. It is easily soluble in ethanol (10%), soluble in aqueous solution containing surfactant or ethanol/water mixture (1%-10%), and slightly soluble in water (0.05%). 2) Compounding with cosmetic raw materials OCTO can be compounded with a variety of cationic surfactants (quaternary amine salts) and cationic active components, and this compounding can also increase its solubility. the compounding property of OCTO is better than other anti-dandruff and anti-itch agents such as ZPT, MDS, CLM, etc. 3) Effect of PH value OCTO can exist stably in the range of PH3--9. Under neutral conditions, OCTO exists in the form of free acid with Pka of 7.4 4) Thermal stability OCTO has very good thermal stability. 5) Light stability Under direct UV light, the active component of OCTO will decompose. Therefore, it should be stored away from light as much as possible. 6) Effect on viscosity The addition of OCTO can increase the viscosity of many surfactant systems |
