Nitazoxanide/ Nitrozantinib is a derivative of nitrothiazide amide, and although its actual mechanism of action is not yet understood, it is believed to be related to the enzyme dependent electron transfer reaction that inhibits pyruvate and iron redox protein oxidoreductase, which is crucial for anaerobic energy metabolism. This product not only has activity against Cryptosporidium and Giardia intestinalis, but also against many intestinal parasites such as Bacillus, amoeba, human roundworms, hookworms, Trichomonas, beef tapeworm, short shell tapeworm, and liver fluke.
