Neomycin sulphate is a kind of aminoglycoside antibiotics.This product to staphylococcus aureus (methicillin sensitive strains), corynebacterium genus, e. coli, klebsiella bacteria genera, proteus and enterobacteriaceae bacteria have good antibacterial effect, for each group streptococcus, streptococcus pneumoniae, enterococcus is active. Application & Function of Neomycin sulfate 1. Neomycin Sulphate is typically used as a topical preparation, such as Neosporin. 2. Neomycin Sulphate can also be given orally, where it is usually combined with other antibiotics. Neomycin Sulphate is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and has been used as a preventive measure for hepatic encephalopathy and hypercholesterolemia. By killing bacteria in the intestinal tract, it keeps ammonia levels low and prevents hepatic encephalopathy, especially prior to GI surgery. 3. Neomycin Sulphate has also been used to treat small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. |
