This product has a killing effect on adult filaria (except onchocerciae) and microfilaria. It has two effects on susceptible microfilaria: one is to inhibit muscle activity and make the worms immobile. This is possible The excessive polarization of the piperazin part of the drug promotes the detachment of the worm from its colony; the second is to change the surface membrane of the microfilaria, making it more vulnerable to the attack and destruction of the host's defense function. The mechanism of the killing effect on adults is unknown.

It is used for the treatment of bancroftial filariasis, malayifilaria and roa filariasis. It is also used for onchocerciasis. The first three can be cured after one or more treatments, but for onchocerciasis, because this product cannot kill the adult worms, it cannot be cured. It can also be used for patients with tropical eosinophilia. It is also effective against roundworm infection, but it has been replaced by other safer, effective and new anti-worm drugs.
