Oxytetracycline is an organic substance with a chemical formula of C22H24O9N2. It is a light yellow crystalline powder and is very slightly soluble in water. Stable in the air, the color fades when exposed to light. Oxytetracycline is an acid-base amphoteric substance, which can combine with acid or alkali to form salts. It dissolves very little in water and is easily soluble in dilute alkali and dilute acid. It is more stable in acidic aqueous solution.
